Nationality:
1. For Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, applicants should be Indian resident.
2. For other civil services candidates must be a citizen of below mentioned countries:

A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Pakistan, Burma, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zaire and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Required Education: Applying candidates must have degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament are eligible to apply for UPSC Civil Services Exam.

Number of Attempts:
Candidates shall be permitted six attempts at the Civil Services Examination.
In the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates there is no limit of attempts.

Age Limit): Age of candidates must not be below 21 years and not be above 32 years.

Age Relaxation:
For candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe upper age limit is relaxed up to five years.
For applicants belonging to Other Backward Classes who are capable to avail of reservation you can get relaxation of three years.
Appliers, who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989 is admissible for five years age relaxation.
In the case of Defence Services Personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof will get three year relaxation.
Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service will get five years relaxation.

Application Fee: Candidates need to pay fee given below fee in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/Sate Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
  • For Female/ SC/ ST/ PH Candidates: No Fee
  • For other Category Candidates: Rs. 100/-

Selection Process: Applicants will be selected on the basis of UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam, UPSC Civil Services Main Exam and Interview.

  • Candidates have to attempt Multiple Choice Questions of total 400 marks.
  • Question Paper will be set both in Hindi and English languages.

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Services Exam:

Nationality:
  • For Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, candidates must be Indian resident.
  • For other civil services applicants must be a citizen of India, or subject of Nepal / Bhutan / A Tibetan refugee / A person of Indian origin (PIO) who has migrated from other countries with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • Provided that a applicant belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been announced by the Government of India.

Educational Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess degree in any discipline from concern Universities recognized by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions.
  • Job searchers who have appeared examination n but have not been informed of the results are interested to apply.
  • Candidates who are having professional and technical qualifications that are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree are also eligible to apply.
  • Every candidate can only go for six attempts only. Provided that, this restriction will not applicable for SC and ST candidates who are otherwise eligible.

Age Limit:
  • Age of aspirants should not be less than 21 years and more than 32 years on the 1st of August,. i.e. candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1984 and not later than 1st August, 1995.
  • Upper age limit is relaxed for reserved category such as Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe for 5 year, for Other Backward Classes up to 3 years and 5 years for domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989 up to 5 years.

  • For Female/ SC/ ST/ PH Candidates: No Fee
  • For other category candidates: Rs. 100/-

Part- I Registration:
  • Candidates will have to look official website of organization that is www.upsconline.nic.in.
  • After that must select the “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC” link
  • Go for examination name ‘Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination’.
  • Press link for ‘Part- I Registration’ and read complete information carefully and press ‘yes’ tab available at bottom of page.
  • Read complete information carefully and press continue tab and enter your basic details like name, gender, date of birth, fathers and mother name and contact details etc.
  • Press submit tab and on successful completion of your full application form, an auto-generated email will be sent on your registered email-id.

  • Before applying Scan your photograph, which must be in JPG format of size 40 kb and greater than 3 kb and resolution 140 pixel height by 110 pixel width and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit and signature in JPG format, having digital size of each file must be less that 40 kb and greater than 1 kb and resolution 110 pixel height by 140 pixel width and Bit Depth of image file should be 24 bit.
